    Burning Music to Xbox HD

    Hey,

Ive a number of MP3s which I want to convert to WAV and place on my Xbox hard drive. My XBox is chipped. Ive had a quick gander at the directories and am unsure where to FTP the WAV files to, or if thats the way its done. Failing that, can I create a CDRW with numerous WAV files on and copy that in its entirety to the HD? Or does it have to be original CDs only.

    Thx

what do you want to use the mp3's for - custom soundtracks or just listening to?

Convert the tracks to WMA. There are loads of apps on the net to do this. Ensure they're in the same format as the ones on the Xbox. You'll find all your current tracks in one of the saves directories on the E drive (forget which, my xbox isn't switched on to check). Just browse through all the hex numbered directories until you find one with a load of .wma files in it. Dump your custom tracks there.

I've no idea if you have to adopt the naming convention that MS use for their tracks.

i thought the WMA format on the xbox was slightly different to the pc version -- didn't know i could just ftp the tracks over to it

what i do is burn the tracks onto cdrw and then just rip them to the xbox hdd via the dashboard -- takes a bit of time but I only have a few albums worth of tracks on the hdd

The tracks I've taken off an xbox could be converted into mp3s. Also, an old Winamp was capable of playing them. Would seem odd to have that functionality for tunes which (then presumbly) could only be played on the xbox.

did a search and the xbox rips the tracks to 128 kbps, 16-bit stereo WMA -- so if your transferring them you might need to rip them to this quality as well
