PSP Questions

I am thinking of getting a PSP but would like some info on it first. It will be the American release I will be getting so:

- Is it region unlocked?
- What are the US and JAP launch games?

Its not region locked at the moment for games, so any game from any region will play from any machine from any region.
The same apparently does not hold for UMD movies, which are region locked.
