    pc engine info

    hi
    im thinking of getting into
pc engine gaming but to be
    honest im a little confused
    about whats what, there
seems to be so many variations i dont know what
    to go for.
    im interested in jap
    Hu cards
and CDs so any advice would be great.
    Thanks Trev

get a Duo R which is the console and CD drive combined, the original CD Rom add ons are more difficult to find. You'll also need the Arcade system card, which adds more system memory, for the later Neo Geo Super CD games. I think the Duo R comes with v2 or v3 system card built in.

HuCards are locked to their region JPN/US. There are adaptors, but they are difficult to find.

    Super CD games are regionless.

Speak to http://www.videogameimports.com/ they have a lot of PC Engine hardware in stock, and they should be able to tell you what the best options are.

What ever you do, don't get a Turbo Express. I foolishly bought one a while ago, not realising that there is just about no point as all the best games never came out in the states. An adaptor would obviously not remedy this problem due to size.

Would have been me, I'd get a GT. The console is really good, and with the right games would be awesome. I find that a lot of old games loose their age when on a smaller screen due to the compression of the blocky graphics. Yeah, get a GT. Be king of the jungle.

Personally I wouldn't recommend the PC Engine CD-ROM2 in the Suitcase as most of the drives are probably on their last legs (and I've seen a few dead drives). :/

The Duo-R is a nice machine as is the RX and I would recommend buying one of those as they are fairly stable machines and they are all in one. All you need to buy is a Arcade card to play Arcade CD-ROM or Enhanced games.
