    Media Player Classic V WMP10

Am I the only one who far prefers the simplicity and useability of the original classic media player to the bloated, messy WMP10? FYI it exists on any XP installation in the WMP folder.

I find WMP10 very easy to use, very clear and well laid out. Its my fav music player. itunes would probably win if it didn't have such a small area for song names by what catagory you select in the browser.

Nah, I like the modern WMP now. If you're just using it to play videos, you can trim down all the crappy menus and sliders and have a nice looking player whilst still having all the new features available when you need them.

I use WMP10 for video, it's pretty good for that. That's about it though... I listen to all my music with foobar, much lower resource usage.

Yeah, it's definately too bloated for music. I stick to good old winamp for my mp3.

For some strange reason, I also find that WM10 struggles with a number of my video files, but plays fine in classic.

If I do use WM10 then its got to have the compact skin.

I use WMP10 for all videos but iTunes for music. WMP for music just isn't as good.

Marcus, give this a go (called Media Player Classic btw )

It's basically an enhanced version of the old MP 6.4 and plays DVDs, supports subtitles etc. And it's just one single executable file.

Personally I haven't looked back since I found it two years ago.

I tried the VideoLan player after hearing good things about it but found it really fiddly to use. So many little niggles such as it fogetting which skin it was using last, forgetting the size of the video window and so on. Maybe there are ways to fix such problems but I had a hunt and couldn't find a way.

WMP10 is bloatware, but at least it works.

Warning! I installed WMP10 the other day and then my computer got some killer viruses which I put down to the player- I had to wipe my windows partition and reinstall.

I use classic as it is much more simple and effective at doing the job.
