Need for Speed 2 under XP

Can this game be made to work in XP? A win 2000/XP patch for NFS2 available on the net proved useless.

registry value:

Value: Version=REG_SZ:4.05.00.0155
Clean your temp directory. Run NFS2SE Setup. As soon as Setup starts copying files to your HD, open the CD tray.
Setup will prompt you to insert the CD again
go to the NFS2SE temp inst.dir and delete the file SHELL.DLL then go back to the setup error message, insert the CD again and

i was talking about the standard version of NFS2, but it doesnt matter ive got it working by changing the swap file size.
