Internet running S.L.O.W......HELP!!

I've been having probs with my internet running super slow over the last few days, it's doing my nut in completely.
It's fine for the first few minutes, and then it's ****e. I have a 1meg Telewest Broadband and usually i'll click on something and the page is there almost instantly.
As i'm a bit of a PC spaz i'm not sure what i need to do to resolve it. I'm not running anything (that i know of) that would slow the PC down and i'm not downloading any files etc.

Please help me, before teh Dreamcast with it's mighty 33k modem comes back out of retirement.

Have you scanned for any virus or trojans? Do you have a firewall? Also have you checked the telewest site, there might be some maintanence going on.

agreed sounds like spyware. also get spybot search and destroy and the beta of the microsoft one aswell. they'll all pick up stuff that the others miss. this should solve the problem

The internet has been slow for me as well- and I have checked for trojans etc... The net has a lot of problems these days because of the increase in traffic.

It's best to check for Trojans and other nasty stuff though.
