    Need help tracing an Ip address

    Hi there, i have been getting some really dodgy emails from someone with the ip address 82.47.219.**

    The guy obviously knows me, but i cant figure out who he is.

    Can anyone help?

    I dont want to have to go to the police

    Is it not illegal to post somebodies IP address in public?

      Edited the last 2 digits in case of any legal issues

      If anyone can help, i will give them the full address

              From experience they wont give the details but will contact the person and possibly suspend their account. Its against the T&Cs of all ISPs to abuse their system.

                      I'm prepared to type up a random couple of lines from the phone book, if you really want to test the theory with real-life addresses.

                      As for IP ones, feel free to knock yourself out playing with nslookup for as long as you want.

                        you can post public info if its in the public domain such as the phone book.

                        The only people you can contact is Blue Yonder / Telewest for this issue as its one of their subscribers IP address, and no its not illegal to post them either
