    PS2 & GC Progressive question...

Thats the cable I need for PS2 right? Has anyone used that shop/site, seems very reasonable price wise.

How about cube, do I need a new cable to get that to work? Furthermore, my cube is PAL, will I still be able to get prog scan out of it? I tried playing Resi4 last night, and frankly the picture was shocking, just normal scart input, but PS2 looked great with just scart input!

    Thanks.

^ pal games don't do 480p as far as i know. i don't think an ntsc game in a pal cube (with freeloader) works either... but i'm not sure about that.

you're better off getting an official rgb scart cable for your cube, unless you have a library of ntsc cube games that support 480p. it sounds like you're using composite via scart atm... yuk!

A NTSC game in a PAL cube via Freeloader will do 480p.

Well at the moment, I've got the cable that came with the cube in use. Just Cube -> scart -> tv. And seriously, Resi 4 ntsc looked appaling, it looked better on my 25" Full screen tv. How much better is the RGB scart that that? How much is it, wand where do I buy it from hehe.

So it sounds like I'd be better of getting the cable for the ps2, and sticking with the rgb scart for the cube? Any other advice?

Oh yeah, I've only got about 3/4 NTSC cube games, but LOTS of NTSC PS2 games...

afaik, you'd need to import a component cable for the cube; i don't think NOE sell them at all. play-asia do them & there's nothing to worry about region wise. do make sure you have a digital out port on your cube though!

which ntsc games have you got? resi4 definitely does 480p, but not every game does... it might not be worth your while.

rgb is *so* much better than composite... i'd go for an official rgb cable, as many 3rd party rgb cables are blatantly not wired for rgb. sounds crazy, but i've read plenty of user reports that back that up.

your cheapest option is to try & pick one up 2nd hand, there's usually a few on fleabay, or try your local shops. or the forums here - they pop up occasionally at reasonable prices.

amazon do them for a shocking ?23 new, with used ones from ?13ish.

He's got a PAL cube, so wouldn't need a modded RGB cable.
