When should I be looking to leave the start area in the game? I'm up to level 6 now, and I seem to be running out of quests and trainers as far as I can see. Am I at the point where I should move into the proper game now?

Is the manual any good for the game? I bought the download version direct from plaync.com so I don't get a manual, and I do feel a bit like I've been dropped in at the deep end. The "extensive" online manual isn't entirely as in-depth as I'd like.

level 7 or 8 if you can. just find all the quests you can and complete them, the next area isn't as preety as the first one. :/

The hardcopy manual isn't much more than a background story plus some class decriptions (oh, and a keyboard shortcut guide). There's far more information on http://www.guildwarsguru.com/ but beware that it might be a little *too* much information.

I went through at level 7 I think... did the quests for pretty much all of the secondary classes before settling on Ele/Monk. You'll be ok at level 6 but be prepared to die several times.

The most important thing is completing the quests that contain skills as rewards, and completing all of the Collection quests for better armour.

You will die a lot in the next area - I'm level 11 and still dieing often. The game pretty much forces you to find a party after finishing the first area, and joining with decent players (rather than high level players) will make it easier.

Actually, it's not so important to go through with all the armour. I went through with a couple of pieces plus about a grand in gold - about enough to buy a full set of (semi) leet armour from the guys you find post academy.
And I believe you can buy any skills you missed from the skills trainer, but this costs skill points.

If anyone is starting then I have made a new character so I will be able to party/guide.

Yes, true. You do swap armour fairly quickly in the early stages. Saying that, I am seeing people above level 15 who are still using the starting armour, which is a bit daft.

I've almost got full level 50 armour now (+10% armour +5 energy with each), however it doesn't look as good as the last set, which is a shame. I've seen some lovely swords and shields though in the area I've just reached...

Which, by the way, is nearly impossible. I leave the town, walk about 5 meters, get attacked and die. Every time. I can do quite a lot of damage to the enemy, sure, but they keep on healing each other which makes it impossible!

                    Take out the healers!

My armour is all level 30 (best I can get atm) and looks pretty nifty, though as an Elementalist I'd ideally need one for each element. I'm thinking about the pyro armour as it's all black/red (and I have dark skin and red hair)...

                    This is almost like FFX-2...

Ta for the advice. Going to try to get another couple of levels and get some bits of armour before doing the academy. Nearly at level 7 now so I should get there today.
