The Duke Nukem Forever Thread! ;)

Anyone else catch this on cvg?

    Duke at E3...2006!

What I'd like to know is, who the hell has been paying for it!? They must be totally bonkers!

    10 ****ing years.

This better live up to it - Return of the Dukester and not before time.

I don't beleive it. I remember talking about this game when i was at school! and it was mean to be on the quake 2 engine! It would be damn funny if it turned out to be ****e though

I'll believe it when I see it. It's to be one of those myths in history I feel.

Oh I remember the days of modem gaming deathmatches with Duke3D...

          *cough* Vapourware *cough*

          2006 ? Bloody hell that's still a year away

Still, I'm sure when Duke does make his return it'll be worth it - even the age old vids with the crappy Quake engine looked great fun.

I'm curious about the so-called "amazing physics engine"
If it lives up to what I've heard, it'll be rather stunning.

They are surely having a laff...?

Why on earth would they say, you can have a look...next year without running the risk of being ridiculed even further...? Ok I suppose it keeps some form of interest in the title but really...

Wonders off remembering how good the original was...

What could you have possibly heard that would make it sound so stunning!?

I've seen nothing to suggest it will innovate or even be a solid entry into the genre?

I mean come on, are ANY of the original Duke team still with the developer?

Surely they must have scrapped the original game and started afresh. Hopefully the new Duke will be something totally new and exciting- using the power of the latest systems to propel Duke back in to the lime-light!

The resource for people who make and sell games.

                      If this is true...

I have seen some of Meqon's demos, and they looked amazing, at least as good as the Havok stuff, if not better...
What that'll translate to remains to be seen, though.

ATI had better get that Physics Accelerator onto the shelves by 2006. Heh. If it's as complicated as it sounds, we're going to see a lot of processors struggling under the load...

Duke Nukem: Forever (Changing Graphics Engines)

I don't buy all this 'Done when it's done' crap. Stop ****ing about with engines and work on the game. Wasn't it Ion Storm that made Anachronox on the Quake II engine? Seriously outdated engine, absolutely fantastic game.

How much must they have spent on it's development by now? It's really amazing 3D Realms are still in business.

Also interested to know what they're doing with the graphics now. Last we saw of it, it was running on Unreal 1! Changing engines is one thing, redoing all your art to make proper use of the engine is something far, far bigger.

Did anyone see the story up at IGN yesterday that Prey is back in development? 3D Realms were doing this alongside Duke Forever many years ago, it was to be the first game to use portals in it's engine. But the team fell apart and the game was scrapped, but now it's back.
