Question about Chipped Xbox and Live!

    Hi guys,

Just a question for all you Xbox mod experts out there!

I have a machine chipped with Xecutor 2 lite, and a switch to turn it off so I can still play my Live games.

I also however have installed some software onto the E: Drive.

Is this going to cause me any problems when playing games on live?

The switch ensures that my chip will go undetected, but does live check the HDD and look for things that shouldn't be there?!

Any help appreciated, references to your own setup would also be handy too!

    Thanks

No, at the moment the live service does not check your hdd. I even have some extra files on my c partition to enable me to see all region dvd's with remote enabled. This is not to say live won't check this in the future, it would be very easy for ms to exclude any non standard xbox, the fact that they haven't done this means they are not that interested in it.

Just to be safe my system is configured to run EVERYTHING that is non standard (including the dash) from the F partition which the Xbox cannot see when the chip is switched off.

I didn't know you could do that, I thought when playing other region DVD's you had to use the controller.

Where did you get these files?

It took some experimenting on my part.

I knew the original dash could be patched to play all dvd's with a dongle using the first dvdx program. Since evox lets you point to the program that plays the dvd's it should be possible to let that patched dashboard run dvd's, even if you rename it.

The updated LIVE dashboard can't be patched and you really shouldn't want to. So I copied that one and replaced it with the older dashboard that I had backed up, patched it with dvdx, renamed it and put back the LIVE dashboard.

However, when trying to use the patched dashboard it gave the usual xbox error message. After comparing my C backup and the new LIVE C, I noticed the LIVE version had put files that were in the root before into folders. After putting those files from my C backup into the root, the patched dash would play all dvd's; apparently it needed some of those files (and needed them to be in C root, putting them in F didn't work).

After that it was simply a case of deleting files until you are left with the ones needed for dvd playback, these were default.xip and dvd.xip. The patched dash could be put in E, since it only needed those files to reside in C root. It took some effort, but I really like being able to use the remote with all regions now.

            Thanks for the help guys.

Just one question, how do you get the F: drive available? It show's as having no space on my machine! How much space does it have if you get it working?

The XBox will use the first 8Gb of a hard drive, but if your drive is larger than 8Gb, then the extra space can be formatted as an F drive. You can use the Slayer's Install disc to format the F drive without losing any data on the existing partitions.

If you Xbox only has an 8Gb drive fitted, then there won't be any extra space available to use as an F drive.
