TV system doesn't match?

Now this is weird. I'll try to explain.

I put a US DVD into my US PS2 and it reads the disc, but gives me the titled error.

I put the same DVD into my PAL PS2 and it just doesn't read it, so that's fine.

But when I put the very same DVD into my brothers PAL PS2, it not only reads it but it plays fine on my TV.

I can't figure out for the life of me why the US ps2 reads the disc but gives this error. US ps2 games play in color and just fine......just not DVDs that i've tried.

Any suggestions?

Might be a firmware problem. Check the firmware version and see if they are different. If so, then that might be why

Is it a RCE disc? That might explain it also

I'm pretty sure the US ps2 firmware is different to the PAL ps2 it worked with......

Any suggestions to help rectify? (other than get a new PS2 which is what i'm trying to do)

You get this message usually because US PS2's are incapable of playing PAL discs (from any region). Maybe the DVD is PAL format, even though it was sourced from the US?

I guess so.....maybe that is the case. I'll have to try some more DVDs.
