    Chipped PS1 question

Why would my supposedly chipped PS1 run a Jap game in black and white? It is the first time I have ever tried to run an import PS1 game, the title is Metal Slug X. I hope I can get around it - as a US SOTN is on it's way!!!

is it something to do with your TV?

Tried it on 2 different tv sets - one with a scart connection, the other an RF.

It should be fine using the scart lead, unless its a composite lead like the av/phono--->scart block you get with modern consoles.

To use RF you will need an ntsc to pal converter, around under ?20.

It is one of them scart leads with the red, white and yellow bits. What should I get to replace it?

            Something like this: http://www.darkplanets.com/product_i...pe=18&prod=227

Cheap as chips . You can get ones with extra connections if you need to use a Guncon.

                probably it's your TV...
I have chip'd PAL PS1 9xxx series and it runs JP/US titles just fine apart from anti-mod titles - chip being old non-stealth type...

If you have an RGB scart cable for your PS2 use that

Got me one of them RGB cables. Picked up one off fleabay in the end with an extra input for a G-Con, which is handy. ?4.20 all in including postage. Bargain.
