Shenmue 2 (DC) didn't get released in the US (only Jap & PAL). The game did eventually see a US release on the Xbox though.

Worth noting, many US high street retailers, such as EB, sold the European version of the game, packaged with a DCX, for a short period of time.

is it because Americans would reject the Japanese voices? They had to wait for the ****e Xbox English voices heh

I think it was a purely financial decsion by SEGA. The 1st game didnt set the US charts on fire, did it?

BTW Shenmue is far and away the finest videogame ever made.

The 2nd game had too much going on in it and the ending was really poor.

ending was weird, although it was obviously set like that for a second sequel.

Sega sold exclusive US rights to Microsoft when they secured an Xbox port, thats the only reason the US Dreamcast version was cancelled (with a few short weeks to go before release).

I remember Yu Suzuki at some point saying the poor reaction to the original English voice acting in the States meant they wouldn't bother for the sequel - preumably MS money changed Sega's mind.

LMAO, the english voice acting was the only thing going for it. "Kiss off, BASTARD!"

Ahhhhh.... if only it had sold on Xbox, then we might have seen some more of that MS money for Shenmue 3...

                      That is exactly it.

Sega were talking about Shenmues 3 and 4 depending on how well the Xbox version sold in the US.

absolutely tragic, many many people should be made to buy that game

PS - if there was no US DC version what's this review about? 'Version: United States' Someone fix that.
