    PC Graphic Card Tech Demo's..?

Remember those old tech demos you could get for your old 3DFX accelerator card and Mad Onion's Benchmark program? I think tech demos for GFX cards a nice, very clever modelling etc.....

Know where to get (download) any?

Moved, as it's more of a question than off topic

Anyway, you can try the new Mad Onion ( i think they changed their name now ) 3dMark 2002 - it's incredibly harsh though. Killed my GeForce 3. Also, www.nvidia.com do a lot of nice demos, as do www.ati.com .

    Have a browse around them

If you have a Radeon 9700/9800 go and download the ATI demos from ATI's web site.

The best demos on the net are products of the demoscene imo and from a creative pov (underground groups of programmers/artists/musicians that code non-interactive realtime audio/visual demonstrations for fun). It's basically free computer art, and it will push your PC and make you go "wow".

Btw. Madonion (who are now called Futuremark again) was formed by people from the demoscene. They even release demos into competitions under the name "Maturefirk". Many game companies (like Remedy who did Max Payne) have their roots in the scene.

I know the scene has already been pimped on these boards, but one more time... Go to this page and just download anything after 1999. There are some fine examples on there to get you started. Just make sure that your PC is nice and fast if you want to watch this year's crop.

        Me Demoscene.

I seem to remeber something about intros and demos under the name of 64K, is this an example of immense programming where an animation was crushed into a whole 64 Kilobytes?

          Amazing.

          Any links?

Woah, nice page... There is no way 'Project Genesis' fits into 64K

Do I get the impression that the more modern ones are basically all about the imagination and design rather than the technical effects? Since all the new whizzo graphics cards have a lot of fancy effects built into hardware, I suppose purely nice looking graphics don't have such an impact these days.

Does anyone know if any of these have been made or converted into screensaver format? A lot of them would make very attractive screensavers.
