    Swap magic on slimline ps2?

Guys... if I have a slimline ps2 (PAL), I just need to get a swap magic disc to be able to play american games, right? Do I actually have to remove/replace anything on the slimline ps2 or is like a freeloader for cube... you just run the bootdisc and that's it?

You need to get a 'Magic Switch', but I don't think it involves opening your machine or anything.

    More info on www.swapmagic3.com

I see. Right then.... where is the best (most reliable and cheapest) place to get both the switch and the swap magic discs?

Also, would the PAL slimline output the american game in PAL or NTSC? My tv doesn't support the ntsc signal, so I'd have to get an RGB cable, assuming that the slimline outputs an NTSC signal. Or is it PAL?

      Cheers for the help.

It should do, my old 3.0 discs used to (I just use modchip now). But the disc lets you force whatever screen mode you want anyway (It's PAL/NTSC btw, not PAL60). Make sure you get the newest 3.6 discs.

A quick search shows this page http://www.magicswitch.co.uk/?page=p...10f9964be96851 but there's a list of retailers on the Swap Magic page.

EDIT - I see there is actually a 'Magic Switch Pro' out now, with some improvements.

Yeah, the magic switch pro thingamabob looks cool, as you can close the slimline lid then. I found this place.... anyone know how reliable it is? http://theconsoleshop.com/shop/produ...roducts_id=157

Oh... this definitely won't damage the pstwo right?

Never used them, but I'm pretty sure they are on the official retailer list so...

And nah it won't, it's just a bootdisc. The Magic Switch just blocks the lid senor, so there's nothing to actually damage the machine as such.

Be aware though that DVD9 games won't work (though some games can be ripped to 2 DVDR's).

Ah, you must have a normal ps2 right, since you got the tool, yeah? Or is it needed for slimline as well? I'm so clueless on this!

Did you send out a cheque or paypal? I'm sending out a cheque... don't got paypal. But good to hear delivery is quick. Never know what "flat rate" means.

Sweet deal. Once you install the magic switch, can you uninstall it after you're done?

Yes, but there is no need, it doesn't hinder using PAL games in any way and the lid closes too.

Cool, cool. ShakeyJake mentioned that it's PAL/NTSC so even if my tv signal doesn't recognise NTSC and I play an american game, then it should still be in colour, is that correct?

If you're using RGB or Component cables you won't have any problems with colour regardless of your TV

Yeah, I know... but I was wondering if the swap magic will set it to colour anyway, because otherwise that would mean I'd have to run to HMV or Game and purchase an RGB cable, which I don't really feel like doing.
