    Pariah - PC

Anyone else picked this up yet ?

Got my version today and after two hours play so far, its all seems like standard stuff.

Nice visuals, with some big and pretty looking outdoorsy vistas (complete with leaves falling from trees etc), and a good selection of upgradable and suitably destructive weaponry to use on the environment and enemies.

There's also a variety of vehicles of to be discovered.

The AI does seem to be a bit ropey, but I'm enjoying it all so far.

A by-the-number FPS (unless anyone's got further and it improves ?)

I take it you're playing this on Xbox? What's it like on Live? I haven't tried either of the single player demos yet, but I very much enjoyed the PC multiplayer demo?

How's the story shaping up so far? It sounded pretty solid in the previews.

Sorry mate I'm actually playing on PC as I managed to get it for ?18 off Play (that and I don't have Live).

It was just easier to post it here as I though more people would pick up the Xbox version and it was easier than having seperate threads in here and the PC folder

Storywise theres not a lot to it at the moment but that could be because I'm not that far in yet. At the moment I'm just chasing Katrina around ( she's the female in all the promo shots).

i played a one level demo a while ago on my Xbox and was pretty diasppointed afterwards. average technics and a total lack of atmosphere were my main complaints. at least the story of a scientist looking to save the world and, of course, a girl seemed promising to me.

unfourtunately, and if one can believe gamespot's review, the story is also instantly forgetable! but who's surprised given the fact that the makers of the game are the same that did epic Unreal FPS series

Hmm... a bit further in now and it doesn't seem to have improved much.

The plot is certainly nothing special, and even has some mind boggling gaps in it that leave you missing the rest of a cut scene as your brain goes "WTF happened there ?"

A good example is (minor, minor spolier)

leaving Katrina in a control room as you go off to do your thing, you hear her being attacked over the radio and rush back. There's a bit of rumbling of the building and as you go up in the lift to the control room it goes to a cutscene showing the outside. She's just lying on a patch of scorched ground with nothing else around her. The main character comes along and says "Lets get out of here"

The blurb says "Immersive storyline written by Hollywood scriptwriters". That might be true, but they neglected to mention they were sitting in the dark and geriatrics from "The Home for Retired Hollywood Script Writers"

The one player xbox version suffers from the severly sub 30fps bull**** too when it gets hectic. Multi player seems pretty solid but nothing exciting, at least its got bots though.

I don't know how much longer I can go on playing this game

Just when you think its going to actually amount to something it produces a wet smelly fart of a level, when it could have been great

Like entering the prison - it could have been an epic event, given that the scale of the level is so huge, but instead its a complete snorefest.

While the AI wasn't the strongest to begin with, it gets even worse the further in you get.

I stood there for five minutes as four unarmed prisoners pounded **** out of a prison guard who was armed with a grenade launcher.

              The winner ?

Nobody actually, as they're immune to each others attacks. Get a group of different enemies in a room and they will attack each other ad infinitum

I realise I'm moaning on about this now so I'll stop it (and playing as well I think)

Anybody playing this? It's just that I'm a little stuck. On the Anvil level I've been told I need to flick the switch to open a huge set of doors. No problem, the switch is in a bunker, I get to the switch room n the bunker, flick the switch see the doors opening on some monitors and then nothing. I can't get out. None of the doors seem to work and there is an awful alarm sound and gas is escaping.

I'm still struggling with the Train level (Xbox). Not being the best when it comes to the genre I am finding it difficult (frustrating!) on Easy!
