Icons not Appearing in Windows Properly

Ever since getting this new PC, image icons have never appeared as what they should. Just as the unidentified file icon.

And now as of this morning, MP3 files are doing the same instead of having the iTunes icon!?

    Any ideas?

I've tried messing about with Style XP changing the icon set but that doesn't affect it.

Have you tried creating a new profile and logging on with that?

I had icon trouble on 2003 server and recreating the profile i was using fixed it.

Tried that, made the movie file icons go back to normal but audio, image and general .exe, .zip files etc are still not working...

I think Tweak UI has an icon rebuilder.

It's part of Powertools that you can download free from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx

Damn, tried that too but with no luck!!

          It's killing me!

EDIT: It's all fine now, downloaded new icon sets, installed it, and it seemed to override all the ones that weren't working apart from MP3 files.

So I just opened iTunes, unchecked the 'Make iTunes default player...' box then checked it again and they all fixed!
