Just one thought on the TV/60Hz/NTSC/Grey issue, it may be that the TV supports a 60Hz signal, but not the NTSC colour sub carrier frequency, which is different to PAL60 I believe. As stated though, RGB cures all

EDIT: Ah it seems i found it....in ps2 system configuration I had to set something to RGB

seems I have color now
