US Doom3 Region Free?

Sorry to have to start an entire thread for this; i asked the question a few times in the "Region Free Xbox Games List" Thread but got no reply.

I would like to buy Doom 3 NTSC-U version because i once owned the PAL version but it is 50Hz only. My xbox is PAL unmodded.

I read in the First Play thread that NTSC-U version is region free and will work in an unmodded PAL Xbox. I am aware that the PAL version is NOT region free.

There has been no other confirmation of this and the game is NOT listed in the List thread.

would anyone confirm this for me?

I have a modded PAL Xbox & my US copy of Doom 3 boots up fine when the mod chip is disabled.
