Which midi keyboard for music software beginner?

To do the above using Renoise.

Load Renoise
Configs tab - midi - select your midi devices
Instrument settings tab - midi properties - Device
When done (Midi Ch1) will be displayed in 00 (Top right)
Press any key on the keyboard and you should hear a sound.
Change the banks and Programs (under device) to get different sounds.

All good

Probably best to uncheck record note off.
When all goes pear shaped hit Panic top left.

Also, make sure the cursor is in a music channel, or you won't hear any sound. If it isn't press tab a couple of times to jump between the 8 audio channels.
