    Hi all,

Does anyone know if this word actually means anything?!

    Thanks! :-)

Well, I believe that 'Ken' means fist.

ken, apparently means fist in japanese, so I'd imagine maybe, that the hadou part will have something to do with fire.

      Shinryuken means True Dragon Fist.

But being pedantic the Hadouken isn't a fireball technically as it doesn't burn. It's pure concussive energy. Or something

Is it not the first part of a meal?

                "I'll have 'Hadoukenchips' please waitress."

Do you see what I did there?

                Did you?

haado as a phonetic katakana version of english simply means 'hard'
                  hadou means 'surge'.
Ken can indeed mean fist at the end of a word, but also sword and several other things.
So I gues it means something like 'hard punch' or indeed 'surge/wave punch'.

I always thought the best translation of it always was just simply 'fireball'

just as the shoto-clone ALEX/ALEC in street fighter EX alpha [the geezer with ginger hair and purple GI] shouts..."Fahire Ball"

i've looked through some japanese text and I think it approximately translates to "Ave it!!"

                              Shoryuken
                              actually means:

                              Sho Ryu Ken
                              Rising Dragon Punch

                              Hadouken probably means
                              'ball' motion fist/punch
I'm not sure, I have to check the Kanji out first.
