JPN DC Laser probs

My JPN Dreamcast has decided it wont boot any games anymore. It spins discs about 1/2 a revolution with a 1 second break inbetween attempting spins, so I am assuming the laser is caput

Does anyone know if I can replace the laser with one from a PAL machine?

Are their any guides for doing this, or is it relatively simple?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Actualy scrap this, it appears the laser isnt bust, but the lid is???

Im not sure, but If I open the lid slightly (about 1 cm) games now run fine

Its rather annyoing, but im guessing the contact on the lid is bust?

Anyone have any ideas?

It'll be the switch that tells the DC that the drive door is closed - look for a small black lever at the back under the lid.

Make sure there is no dust or fluff getting in the way, etc.
