    XP Pro file access help

Strange once this, i had to re-install windows after a virus. I cant for the life of me remember what i called my PC before the crash.
After the rebuild i cant access 1 of my old profiles My Doccuments folder (It contains all my old Uni work and tonnes and tonnes of other stuff i just cant loose)
That profile was called "dave" and had a password on it, while the other profile for guests had no password on it and the My Doccuments is still accessable.

If i click on "daves" My Documents i get the error "Access is denied" and i cant get into it via dos either.

how can i get in to this profiles My documents?, i have created another user called Dave, but i still cant get in.

I think the problem is that the folder thinks it is on another machine, and i dont have the rights to access it. How can i get round this?

Thanks for any help, it is vital i get this work back, i know it is still there as it is taking up HD space

Can you take ownership of the folder, assuming you have full admin rights to the area the folders are stored on? R/C the folder/Security/Advanced/Ownership and add Administrator as the owner?

Stran ge, you dont have simple file sharing enabled do you?

http://support.microsoft.com/default...308421&sd=tech - may or may not be of use..

Ive been locked out of files before (mostly due to my stupidity in removing all rights by mistake..) but have always been able to take ownership of the folder/file in said above way - if you arent seeing the owner tab under Advanced (also has auditing, effective permission, auditing) then Im really not sure why they arent there unless you have simple file sharing enabled, or arent logging in as administrator or with admin privilages.
