just recently purchased an oldish 21" crt iiyama monitor the 503 i think for some dreamcast vga fun. are they any good? or should i have opted for the newer tft models, its just i wanted a monitor around the 20" mark and you know how expensive tfts are at that size! it only cost 50 brick so i figure it'll do till the size equivalent tfts come down in price. any thoughts?

i have! my jvc 28" widescreen! placed it on its side for garegga on xbox. my god it was awesome but then oh no! red discolouration formed in the corner. i thought that was it, i'd ****ed the tube as even when it was placed back to hori the red was still there. left it was half an hour, sweating, thinkin "aw god, theres 400quid down the drain" went back and it was fine. phew

i have a 17" iiyama crt, the picture is great for everything, including dreamcast through VGA
edit - i have turned my crapovision 14" tv on its side many times, according to a web site (can't remember which one) you have to unplug your tv from the mains for 5 mins, rotate then plug it back in, and the same when turning it back, this apparently stops the discolouration and it worked fine for me, although i don't think i would turn a 28" tv on its side, not brave enoughLast edited by msm13579; 19-05-2005, 00:18.

And DC looks great on my 19" CRT monitor, can't knock the display quality of those "big old buggers"
