    MGS Special Missions

On a bit of a Metal Gear Solid bender right now, having finally bought Snake Eater in that Amazon sale last week. Playing through in order, starting with the first on PSX.

Just dusted off MGS: Special Missions and found that it won't load on my PS2. When it comes to swapping the Special Missions CD over for one of the two from the game proper it refuses to recognise them - keep on getting a 'wrong disc' message.

I presume it's hardware-related, but does anyone know if there's a way around it? Admittedly, I'm being a bit of a lazy bastard because I can't be botehred getting my PS out of the attic, but I'd also quite like to see how the extra VR missions look using the PS2's smooth-o-vision texturing.

Can you play other region games on your PS2? There's no need to disc swap with the VR Missions disc from MGS: Integral and I've read that there's no prob with playing the US Special Missions on a PS2.

It worked fine on my ps2 ages ago. You should be playing twin snakes, don't bother with the original one now

It's the Special Missions material I'm wanting to play now though, Boris (not included in Twin Snakes, is it? I'm doing the completist thing here). Like I say, both the CDs from the main game work fine on their own, it's just that either the console or the software refuses to recognise them when I have to perform the disc swap for the SM disc.

mezzanine> Nup, I'm PAL only as far as the PS2 goes.

Haven't got fast disc loading turned on, so it's not that. It's not a problem with the discs being scratched or dirty, either, because it always worked fine on my PSX.

Maybe PAL MGS is just one of those games the PS2 has problems with. I've just completed the main game again and when it got to the end of the credits it froze - no ranking screen, no option to save, no nothing. Poop. PSX it is, then.
