PAL PStwo on American TV. Help!

    Hi -

I've had a search around and haven't quite found the answer to my queries.

I've got a PAL PStwo that i want to use on TVs in the States. So what i do i need. I gather power supply is not a prob as the PSTwo has an external converting power supply.. so what about PAL/NTSC issues? Do american TVs even have SCART sockets? I'm using an RGB lead if that's of any baring.

US TVs won't have SCARTs, no - you'll be wanting to pick up a component lead from Best Buy or the like. US TVs won't do 50Hz, either, so you'll need to memorise how to get into 60Hz mode on your PAL games.

      Ah, thanks for that.

Could you clarify something about the 50/60hz setting? The only game I'll be playing is GTA San Andreas (coz that's where I'll be!). I've just had a look at it and can't find any setting to change this either in the game or in the actual PS2 settings. Am i overlooking something or is it possible that some games are not switchable?

Oh.. looks like no 60hz option on the PAL release... looks like i'm ****ed then. Oh well, more room in the suitcase i spose.

Yeah. Do yourself a big favour, and grab a cheap PSTwo while you're over there; certainly beats chipping.

Some US TV's do do 50hz, but its far from standard.

I say sell your PAL PS2 and buy yourself a lovely American PS2 and it will be much better and games will also be cheaper.

                Ah well - thanks all.

I reckon it's probly not worth the bother now. Just thought seeing as i was spending a month on my own in the area doing GTA type things (I'm hiring a Cessna and flying from LA to Vegas and around Arizona and stuff) it would be cool to do it in GTA at the same time - will have to save that remaining 30% of the game for my return.

I'll be buying a PSP anyway so don't want to let games take over too much of my trip.
