[I've made this thread to stop the Electroplankton review thread going way off-topic...]
simple version: plug a 3.5mm jack audio cable into the headphone socket of your ds, then plug the other end into whatever you're recording it on.
however, some people have found using certain cables / adaptors isn't so easy with the ds; the 'top lip' of the ds's bottom half prevents them from being plugged in unless you remove some spare plastic first (from the cable or the adapter - NOT THE DS!). i don't know if the one referenced below needs modification or not.
i've heard (unconfirmed reports on gamefaqs) that the headphone adapter for gba sp's can be used in the back of the ds to get audio out too... but not at the same time as the headphone socket. i'm not sure the quality would be as good either; one jack is better than two!
what about recording whilst playing?
sadly, when plugging in either, no sound will come out of the internal speakers. this makes monitoring your performance whilst you record a little trickier... if you want to record into a computer, you'll likely suffer latency issues if you monitor through the pc's speakers, which will make exacting control over our performance very hard.
[latency = delay between making input & hearing effect of it]
my recommendation: plug the audio out of the ds into your hi-fi - then take the line out of your hifi & plug that into the computer. this way you can monitor your performance via the hi-fi speakers, whilst recording onto your pc or mac. the bonus of this method is, you can get to crank up those ds tunes / play those 'plankton loud!
if anyone else has any better ideas, please add them!
