Xbox problems

Executor 2 chipped xbox -

PROBLEM

Cannot play NTSC games without using the switch that enables the chip.

ANALYSIS

This means that cannot connect to Xbox Live as to do this the switch needs to be disabled. When a game is inserted with the switch off, it comes up with a "call customer service error code 05" message. Xbox dash works fine if selected via the Evo X dashboard.

Hard drive was replaced last week and it worked fine before this.

is the hdd locked?

i think it needs to be locked to work in 'unchipped' mode

You should change the Xbox region so that it matches the software he needs to use for Live -

a game just being in the wrong region won't bring up a customer service error though

yep checked up and error code 5 is:

5 - kernel - HDD not locked (retail bioses require the hd to be locked)

details to lock the hdd are here - configmagic can lock them (i think)

not all hdd can be locked however - if this is the case then basically he can't use his xbox in retail mode (unchipped mode)

That's heavy - if you boot configMagic you can lock the HDD from it's menu.

seems that configmagic final will lock an hdd from the evox dashboard - still trying to find out how though

Also, does it work on a Slayer installed XBox?

its already on the slayers disc - might be on the menu already (not sure) but its defi on the disc
