    PS2 Linux

Just wondering if anyone here is using the official PS2 Linux kit or the BlackRhino PS2 Debian distro? I'm wondering how fast it runs if I was using it just as a web browser?

I need a new project, and as you can wire in an IDE cable to a PStwo I was gonna get a PStwo set-up with a DMS4 and HDD to use as a web browser.

I thought that blackrhino was based on Redhat

hmm maybe thats the official one, uhh

I remember you could buy it for $99 at one point too as they were trying to shift it.

Yeah, the official PS2 Linux is based on Kondara Linux, which itself is based on Redhat. Blackrhino is a free distro based upon Debian.

Unfortunately, you need the official kit installed to use Blackrhino. Damn.

But I'm just wondering if anyone here has used PS2 Linux. I wanna know if it runs decently enough to go on this mission?

apparently - it runs sdl games and stuff ok, simple things, I mean its only 333MHz

I heard someone tried to compile the mozilla browser for it - it took 18hours, then segfaulted when he tried to run it

sounds like **** to me, binary packages of Firefox and Mozilla are readily available.
