dreamcast light gun - TV compatability

Hi. I tried to use one of these on my TV and couldn't calibrate. Is this because it's a flat screen television?

It doesn't work on 100Hz Tv's

another question about DC lightguns:
I'm pretty sure there's some incompatibility between lightguns, games and maybe dreamcasts from different regions, but I don't remember exactly. Anyone knows?

Yeah, the lightgun was never officially released in the US - so US games will detect and refuse to work with (EDIT: an official) JP or UK lightgun.
They will work with certain 3rd party guns though.
