    MOdchip banning Playstation 2

i Just purchased a ps2 hard drive and copy of minna no golf on my holidays in Japan last week, and I have a slight concern before trying to take the ps2 online.

My scph 10000 has one of those mod chips installed where you have to do the swap disc with the utility disc as the boot disc, now what I was wondering was since this is not a straight boot disc and the games have to be patched to work, and it only loads cdr games, will this affect the bios of the ps2 and therefore possibly get me banned by Sony when I take the console online???

I look forward to some theory's and answers as I am desperate to play Minna no Golf online.

Thanks for any help in advance!!

As for as I know, the chip you have works by using an exploit in the early PS2 models. The chip merely triggers the eject mechanism at the right time so you can swap the disc, it doesn't do anything to the actual BIOS of the PS2. The chip itself doesn't even make any connections to the BIOS.

I think it should be safe to try this out.

I don't even think proper modded consoles have been banned actually...

Thanks alot guys, if I get banned, I guess it is off to ebay to get another ps2, someone on the after dawn forums said there is some sort of program you can run to change your machine id if you do get banned.

Hopefully everything will be ok, I'll let you guys know, thanks for all your help by the way it is much appreciated.
