Snes-battery Backup Problems

Just picked up a copy of Jap SupermarioWorld on the SNES...BUT

The game doesn't seem to save my game. If i play something else and go back to Mario, the game save has disappeared-very annoying.

Any advice and/or tips to stop the happening?

You are right, it is the battery.

If you don't mind taking the cart apart and soldering the you can probably replace the battery.

If you want someone to do it for you - then I think these guys offer a replacement service, but I've never used them

Nintendo UK also replace batteries, Im now in Oz so haven't got their number to hand they are in the book though, they charged me $2.50 to do my lttp cart (was a couple of years ago now)
