    Wireless Gaming

I want to set up a wireless connection so that i can play Xbox Live and the Nintendo DS (online). I've been doing some research into the wireless set up. So here's my solution!

In order to get a wireless internet connection i need a wireless access point. In this case i need a wireless router to connect to my modem (as seen in screen shot one) i'm looking at this one:

Once i connect the router to the modem, i would then need a wireless ethernet bridge to connect to my xbox so that it can communicate with the access point (screen shot 2)) I'm looking at this:

This is the set up i'm look at, i know that to play the DS online i won't need the wireless ethernet bridge as the DS has wireless connectivity built into it and i only need the access point, in this case the wireless router.

Has anybody else got a set up like this as it's the road i'm going to take. If you have another set up (to save me green), then i would like to see it!

    Cheers

That's the exact Linksys router I've got, it was a doddle to set up.

I have my PS2 online via a 'bridge' (Linksys gaming adapter - dodgy bit of kit, get a proper bridge instead).. and the xbox online via internet connection sharing (ethernet) from my PC which has a wireless card in it.

Why are wirelss bridges so expensive? Same price as a wireless dsl router.... Surely it doesnt need to do anything? No firewall/modem etc. Just send packets.

I don't understand the price of the bridge either, as the device is just sending packets back to the router. Maybe it could be because of the IEEE 802.11b Standard.

Thing is if your getting a Xbox 360 you won't need the wireless bridge anymore as the X360 (like the DS) has wireless connectivity built into the hardware. Plus it (X360) supports 802.11G, which has better packet transfer than 802.11b. Ah well, when i get the 360 i'll just punt the wireless bridge.

Oh good so I don't need to buy a wireless card for my PC if your information about XBOX 360 is correct.
