    PS2/PSOne compatibility issues

Ok a few questions as I have only recently purchased a PS2 with the intention of playing a lot of old PSOne classics.

    1) Does a PS2 8MB memory card work if formatted in a PSOne manner or do you have to use an old school PSOne grey/white memory card?

    2) Is it possible to play US or Japanese PS One games on a UK machine in any shape or form if the PS2 is chipped?

    3) Are there any known problems with any PSOne games playing on the PS2?

    Thanks.

    1) PS1 and PS2 cards are completely non-interchangable. You must use a PS1 card for PS1 software.

    2) My PS2 is chipped, and I can play US and JPN games fine. Pretty much all modchips play imported PS1 software.

    3) I believe a few obscure titles don't work, though I don't have a list as to which.

some software has issues with a chipped machine

Ape Escape and dino crisis are 2 good examples
Have them both originals and they dont play but the YARR! version play absolutely fine

95% of the software plays ok though

Now that I think about it, I have a feeling some older modchips might have issues with games that detect the modchip. Any new modchip should have no issues, however.
