Star Ocean 3 and Silent Hill 2 questions

I just bought Star Ocean 3 after hearing many great things about it. So far however I'm a bit underwhelmed, I can't really get to grip with the combat system yet, the game is drenched in RPG cliches and the music is truly horrible in some areas. The thing is, I promised myself a little while ago to stick with one game at a time and only play the really great ones. So, is it worth sticking with, does it get better further in, or should I sell it and spend my time on something else?

Secondly, I'm looking to buy Silent Hill 2 and have some questions. Are Inner Fears (PAL) and Restless Dreams (US NTSC) on xbox exactly the same? Also, how does the PS2 original compare to the xbox port? And is there a release on PS2 which has the extra content of the xbox port?

Inner Fears? Not sure what that is - the Platinum edition of SH2, which I think is called the Director's Cut, has everything that the XBox version has. As for how the PS2 version compares, well the XBox version has slightly better shadows (though I have both and you'd barely notice) and it's ever, ever so slightly more crisp. There's not much in it.

Star Ocean 3 is ok, but at times it really does feel like a dungeon crawl. It does have it's moment though. Still, it's not a patch on Star Ocean 2.

Hmm I guess I'll keep playing for a little while longer then, I'll give it some good time next time I have a day off, if it doesn't really grab me it'll be time to start BOF Dragon Quarter.

Still not sure about the Silent Hill 2 thing, but I guess I'll just try to track down a decent copy of the PAL xbox version since it has nicer boxart then the US one.

          Thanks for the info .
