Like I say, I'm living with six others and I don't know what they'll be doing so it's quite feasible that the limit will be exceeded. If it's not a twelve month contract, I can wheedle out of it if it becomes a problem.

go for ntl. ?25 a month for 2mb only been down once for me in the 1 or so i've had it
      and that was planned.

you could get the 3 for ?30 deal if you wanted, phone 1mb BB and base tv and then add the extra each month for 2mb BB.

Which 2mb ISP should I go for?

I need to change my ISP cause they've started to introduce 50gb a month download caps which is no good for me with the amount of crap I download each month... Below is the 2nd E-mail I've got from them and the time is for me to leave them...

            Dear Customer,

This is a system generated e-mail to inform you that you have used 25GB of Peak Period (8am until Midnight) data transfer so far this month - half way to our Fair Use Policy quota of 50GB. Until July this is running as a soft limit in order for you to monitor your current level of data transfer and either change your usage, or upgrade to our Professional services. Information on our Professional Broadband services can be found at http://broadband.nildram.net

once you use the Fair Use quota, your connection speed will be reduced to 64Kbps during both Peak and Off-Peak periods, with the option to regain normal speeds for an additional fee - at ?0.99 per additional 1GB (charged in advance, in 2GB increments).

Which ISP should I go for? What are you guys on? I'm currently on a 2mb ADSL line with Nildram and cannot get cable in my area. The things I have to take into consideration are these things...

            1. No download caps.
            2. Ease of migrating to a faster connection when available, ADSL2+ for example.
            3. Maximum speeds at all times (where possible).
            4. Customer Service.
            5. Price (but I don't mind paying extra as long as it's good).

On the other hand, I noticed that Pipex bought Nildram out and they have no caps on their BB service... Would I be able to retain the same E-mail address I use now with Nildram if I used Pipex?

Thanks to all replies in advance.

Are they any good though? I forgot to mention... I was after a more reputable ISP as well.

                  Hi,
I only recently switched over from dial up to the wonders of broadband.I've got the BT 2mb/30Gb per month cap package. Now I've only been going 2 months now,the 1st month I deliberatley made an effort to stay within my cap limit but this month I've decided to test the waters and go over this limit,Azureus is telling me that so far I've reached a combined upload and download total of 32Gb.
Currently BT doesn't provide its customers with a monthly usage monitor which you can use to check how close to your limit your getting(this is being introduced in August they say).
I would have expected some kind of email from BT by now informing me that I had gone over my limit or even an email before that event warning me that I was approaching it.Its strange as I always recieved notification from them when I had dialup informing me when I was approaching my monthly limit of hours.
Any other BT users here that can tell whether they are crap at monitoring/enforcing this caps?If so I will continue to hammer the DL'ing some more.

I'm with BT 2Meg with a supposed 15Gb cap, haven't had any messages from them about approaching or exceeding limits and I'm sure I've had at least 30Gb down+up in a month before.

They're probably happy as long as you don't max out your up/down streams non-stop 24/7.

I didn't think BT were actually starting to enforce their caps until something like August?
