No - what I mean is there is very little hard surface space to put the stick on, and if I do, I am leaning in front of the screen - even worse now I have a big telly (see pic)

      bah

looks like a re-arrangment is needed for maximum gaming ability

I may install a retractable shelf/desk type affair underneathe the telly, on rollers, so I can roll out a piece of MDF or something to rest my stick on. Would have to be sturdy though. Can't rearrange the room as it is already set up exactly how I want it with the exception of the two-player stick space dilemma. Oh well - smartjoy converters for me.

4:3 game in 16:9 mode shocker!

What's wrong with just resting the stick on your legs?

heh, I often wonder what I'll do when I finally get a new TV, they all seem to be damn 16:9 ratio now, and playing it with the black borders at each side sucks too..

oh , dilemnas (4:3 is dead, long live 4:3)

You can't see the borders in the dark

I urge retro gamers to buy up the last surviving decent 4:3 TVs. What WILL we do when they stop making them. The 4:3 size on my 43" plasma is probably smaller than the old skool 29"er in the other room. Crazyness.
And never ever stretch 4:3. Pet hate of mine.

At least use a Saturn pad. The thought of that ****ty 4 way SNES d-pad on a Neo makes me shudder.

Don't worry guys - I had only just turned the telly on briefly so I could take a pic to send to Strider (for the mag). It goes on "AUTO" screen mode when you switch it on (i.e. the supposedly intelligent TV adapts picture size to whatever is on screen, so watching an episode of the Simpsons ends up being like playing Art Of Fighting), so when I am actually playing I would have reverted to the proper 4:3 size.

Americans *love* 4:3, so I can't see it dying anytime soon. The only place in the world where people lobby for pan&scan dvds.
