Halo 2 System Link problems

Hi,
I just bought the new Halo 2 multiplayer pack, to update my 2 Xbox consoles. One of my consoles is modded and has the game stored on the hard drive, which I updated with all the new levels etc.

I tried playing a System Link game, although both ways I encounter the same problem.
I created games on both consoles, but whenever I joined it from the other Xbox it says there is a problem and to try again later.
The game details appear on the System Link screen, but after selecting it and after the 'Joining Game...' message, the error just comes up.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

Did you update both xboxes? You'll need to. The update comes with a patch. Check both title screens have v1.1 at the bottom right hand corner.

Yeah both games are updated to v1.1. Before I updated my modded console only my unmodded Xbox was v1.1, and when I tried to connect through System Link no games would appear.

Now that it is updated the games appear, but I just can't join them.
