    Bit more info needed.

    What model laptop is it?
What size screen do you want?
How much do you want to spend?
Will you want to use the desktop with it too or just for movies?

I want it for movies really, its a fujitsu Siemens Amilo D and not too fussed on size just want to spend less than ?300 idealy! Im guessing VGA would give me the best pic quality/refresh rate, right?

For movies I would definitely go with a 16:9 screen, and you should have got a connector with the laptop to give you RGBhv (incorrectly known as VGA)?

Have a look on the LCD thread on www.avforums.com and the guys on there will be able to tell you what is worth getting and what isn't. They were talking of a good 20" LCD which is HD compatible for around ?380, don't ask me the name though as I didn't look at the thread really. But at this stage it would be nice to have a screen that could take advantage of PS3 and Xbox360, as well as HD TV and HD DVD too.

I bought laptop 2nd hand nearly a year ago and didnt get a rgb connector. . . are tehy expensive? I was gonna post something in avforums but thought I would check here first.

the one your describing sounds great but rapes my budget! It would take me ages before I could afford it, unless I sell something I love
