Help! my ps2 has a fake modchip! can I fix it?

I had my ps2 chipped with a so-called matrix infinity only to find out after trying the firmware update that its a fake modbo chip...

now it just boots into a black screen.... can I repair it to at least run games?

    thanks

The same thing happend to one of my mates, he had to get it sent off to someone who fitted a proper chip. Not much of a help I know but getting a proper chip might help.

I used to see problems like this when I worked in a shop that fitted modchip's, the only thing you can really do is either get the chip removed, or get it refitted as GH said.

There will be no damage to your PS2, it is only booting into a black screen because of the chip, you can get this with a bad install sometimes as well though, are you definetly 100% that the chip is fake??

I'm confused now, have yu taken out the chi and replaced it, or did you fit the original chip??

Did you then try to update the firmware to the chip you originally fitted and found out it is the wrong chip or the firmware was wrong, we need more information if we are to help you, and if the disc is not spinning , it is not the laser, but the drive. Defected chips may make the drive not spin for several reason's too, or you have interfered with the mother board, or the chip install has, we cannot make a judgement until you give us the relevant info.
