    Jap GC plug query

would the adaptor in the link below be okay to use on my jap gc plug to run in the uk or is it a bad idea to use or try it.

That's just a converter for the shape of the plugs, it won't convert the voltage. You'll need a step down transformer as the voltage used in Japan is much lower than we use here in the UK. If you just use that you'll fry your cube.

I think you still need a transformer / step down convertor so the GC's power supply doesn't blow. I *think* that plug only lets you plug it into a UK socket but my knowledge is limited...

cHawKso - what about using UK electrics in Japan, do you need a 'step up' converter or can it handle it because the Jap voltage is lower?

Margoos - The power conversion for a gamecube is external - it's done in that box in the power lead. So if you can get hold of a PAL lead it will work fine with any region cube in the UK. I'm using one with my US cube.

OMC - I think you'd need a step-up converter for most things. Alot of power supplies for things like laptops will accept both 110V (Japan) and 230V (UK) - it should say on the power supply somewhere.

I think you can get them from Nintendo, but they cost about 20 quid - so it's probably just as easy to get a cheap cube.

Yeah, my local Gamestation had a load of preowned GC's for ?30, so I'd say go that route rather than spending ?20 on just a AC cable.

If you decide to go for a stepdown convertor, be aware that one with a "figure eight" (OO) connector is no good for a Gamecube.
