Metal Gear Solid 2 - Codec skipping Question.

As I have delighted in telling people on here in the past, you can skip reams of codec moments in Metal Gear Solid 2 by using a button combo, which I thought was 0 followed by start.

I can't get this work now >_<
Can anyone remind me how to do it correctly? I've tried:

0 then start
start then 0
X then start
start then X

If I remeber correctly you just press triangle to skip the text, I never heard of a combo system to get past it! But it has been a long time since I played it....

And you should be listening to the codec conversations anyway :P
