Import Gamecube and Pal Games?

I bought a Pal Gamecube before my ProgScan tv- and although the picture quality is good- I am curious to see ProgScan running.

If I buy a Jap/US Gamecube- will my Pal games work through Freeloader and enable them to run in ProgScan?

I know I need a component cable- any other advice??

erm, a couple of games do have an accessible prog scan mode, rocky for one, but I think mainly you'll need to buy US games, tho they'd work on the PAL cube with prog scan. The PAL cube is perfectly capable of progressive scan (they even sell the cable in Australia) it's just the software has it taken out.

That won't help I'm afraid - the problem is software rather than hardware related. Most JAP/ US games include a prog scan option but Nintendo remove this option from the PAL releases.

You can in fact get prog scan through a PAL GC if you use NTSC games & a freeloader. The only other thing you'd need would be a component lead.

I have a prog scan tv set and ended up replacing my PAL games with their US / JAP equivalents.

It amazes me that Nintendo take-out the prog support. You would think it would stay in the code waiting to be utilised by an Ntsc machine.

I guess I will have to consider buying Ntsc versions of my favourite games- luckily there aren't many- probably around 10.

Does anyone know a list of games that dont work with freeloader?

Also.. which version of freeloader is the latest?

You may be interested to know that the Qoob modchip has a feature to allow you to force both PAL and NTSC games into 480p.

Not all games work, but enough work to make it worth the effort. And most importantly, RE4 works.

Oh and 1.06B is the latest Freeloader version, not to be confused with 1.06b which is older, though largely the same as far as running NTSC games on a PAL machine goes.
