Maxtor Diamondmax 10 SATA drive

stay the **** away from this piece of **** drive - 2 of them have now failed on me in the space of 2 months

anyone know of a good recovery program to attempt to recover these bad sectors?

Damn, I was going to get one of those too. Went for a Seagate in the end.

I've heard Spinrite is good.

its going back to scan on monday - hope they will exchange it for a seagate or western digital rather than for another piece of **** maxtor

I got a new one for the new beast, faulty

However my m8 has 2 of the 300GB and both are fine. Problem is the Seagates are slow and the WD noisy. I may go for the WD 16mb SATA2 drive instead.

Ive been using Samsungs for a while with no bother at all.

Fast and quiet, highly recommended.

i'm using a 160gig samsung spinpoint and its very quiet and quick

if you have serial ata 2 then the western digital 250gig 16mb cache and the new sata 2 hitachi drives are worth looking at

Agreed on the Samsung Spinpoint drives, they are lovely and quiet.

Another vote for the spinpoint here - never had any problems with it.
