    SNES problems

    Hi

Just checking is it possible for SNES universal adapters to break the console? Its just I was messing round with different games using the Datel universal adapter and I had two Jap games in it using a PAL console and suddenly the console switched off. I now can't turn it back on. Have I fuked my console up???

Ordinarily, just having two NTSC games in a converter plugged into a PAL machine would mean the game you wanted to play wouldn't get to the loading screen due to the region chip being detected. If you have been pulling and pushing the Datel adaptor cartrtidge in and out whilst the power is on to the console though, then you've more than likely blown the internal fuse. Hopefully you've done no worse to it than that.

New fuse is no problem apart from it's a wierd rating 1.5A or something, IIRC. There used to be a webpage somewhere that had a nice detailed "How to replace the fuse" tutorial. I'm sure google will bring up something. And yes, you'll need a gamebit screwdriver.

Couldn't you just drill the screws out? A gamebit probably costs more and is harder to find than a snes.

They sell them quite cheaply at consoleplus.co.uk, although when I say cheaply, I mean relatively - they are still about ?12-?15, no matter where you get them from.

Cheaper than all but the cheapest SNES deal you could get, and handy should you ever want to open or mod a Nintendo console.

                Doesn't a Biro work?

Take the ink tube and rollerball and all out of a plastic biro, heat up the narrow end and shove it hard against the 'screws' keep it held for a bit then run it under a cold tap to seal it.
