720p video on Xbox Media Center ?

anyone managed to run 720p video footage on the Xbox Media Center? my Xbox constantly crashes while attempting to play HD footage. i think the Xbox is simply underpowered but i've read somewhere that it's possible if the setup is done correctly!

All i did was turn the option on that matches the video output to the GUI. DVD's run fine through it upscaling them to 720p. Although i can't get 1080i to work very well a lot of the time it's all scrambled. Someone i know has the complete opposite though, 1080 is fine but 720 doesn't work!

yeah, that's strange. i use the GUI output too but my 720p DOA 4 video always fails to run. have you enabled postprocessing and a stable framrate in the video options menu?

isnt that doa video wmvhd? xbox doesnt really have the horsepower to decode wmv at hd resolutions, or even mpeg2 for that matter. It can nearly do 720p divX okay though, depending on the bitrate.

I know of PC's with Pentium 4's and capable GPU's that struggle to run that ,never mnd the Xbox.

It cannot run that sort of HD fottage you are trying to run, you need oodles(lots) of ram for a start and a modern GPU like the 6600 gt or an overclocked 9700 or something similar with lots of onboard ram too, preferably 128 mb, though it runs much better with the 256mb cards.

Hope that helps you out bro.
