    Gamecube region mods

I bought a 2nd hand cube from someone on here and it was modded. The mod worked fine when I got it (let me say that again - it was PERFECT...I am not blaming the previous owner over this at all or the person who did the mod!)

I haven't used the mod in ages though and it's been kept to US region for the last few months. Tonight I wanted to switch it over but the switch (a little flip-switch at the back, sticking out the vent ports) has come loose. I guess that it's come loose from whatever kept it stuck to the vent port. tbh I'm not bothered about it working since I don't think I'll use it for JPN games any more. I don't have any JPN region games any more and I probably won't buy any again. But is it dangerous to have the switch loose in the console? I'm worried about what damage it could do

    Thanks for any help

Same happened to one of mine. The switch just gets pushed inwards a little too hard,as opposed to up and down, and the glue breaks.
no big deal,if you can live without Japanese games as you say.

Thanks. I don't know when it happened since I haven't touched the switch for months (and I look after my consoles so well that I couldn't have damaged it). If it won't harm anything though then I'll just leave it. I can live without JPN games and just stick with US

didn't it held in place by small screws?
I put the small screws w/ washer when I did the mod...
I did put in the same spot though as didn't want to drill a hole...

It would be a very wise idea to open your console and reattach the switch. As far as I recall, the only thing that it could possibly come into contact with would be the RF shielding that encases the motherboard, but I'm not 100% certain. Better safe than sorry.

When I performed the region modification on my Gamecube, the toggle switch that I bought had a small nut and washer assembly which allowed me to clamp it directly through the slats on the back of the machine. No glue necessary! If you decide to repair the switch you might want to investigate getting one that has this feature. They're dirt cheap at a little over a dollar and it makes a nice solid mechanical connection that won't come loose.

Which is how the mod on my Cube is. However the switch that was on there got damaged in transit from LikSang and didn't work. Thankfully the kind souls at LS sent me a screwbit for free to open it up and repair myself.

Thanks everyone Ok, next question - cheapest/easiest place to get a screwbit? Does anyone have one I could borrow for a day or so and I'll cover postage?

Go to the nearest Sears department store, find their tool department and ask for the Craftsman 5/32" Nut Driver: Model Number 41866. It costs $1.99. If you don't have a Sears in your area or they don't stock tools in Imperial units then you can always buy a Gamebit driver from Play Asia for $14.99 =/
