vdigi VD-Z3 query plugging xbox into pc monitor

    Hi all

just got this from a forum member (cheers evilboris) just need to figure out how on earth i get a picture on my tft monitor??

basicaly i have a chipped pal xbox with the enigmah video selector - set for ntsc

in my evo dashboard its set to ntsc etc

but when i plug it all in i get no signal from the monitor

ive replugged it into my tv and turned chip on and then gone back into settings and in there i cant see the bit to enable 480p / 720p and 1081i but this is normal isnt it? unless its plugged into a pro scan source u wont see these options, so how do i set it to pro scan to play

    regards
    jason

someone just told me on another forum to pull left and right triggers together and press the 2 thumbsticks down to enable prog scan picture on my modded xbox, will this work?

The Xbox hides these options if you've not got component cables plugged in.

Try plugging them in and using the green component cable hooked into the yellow composite input on your TV. This should hopefully let you see the options, and enable 480p/720p on the dashboard.

Once that's done, turn off the xbox and plug it into the TFT. Pulling both triggers and clicking the thumbsticks puts the dash into 480p, so you should then get a picture.

        1 last question though

480p games fill the whole of my 4:3 monitor
720p ie sc2 only fills about 2 thirds of the screen towards top left bottom and right is one hugh border (real nice crisp piccy though all be it small)

        regards

Thats actually an issue with SC2. Its a letterboxed effect which the developers created for some reason (possibly to save on processing power?).

Shame really, as like you said, it looks lovely

            Glad I could help.

720p is a widescreen only resolution. Soul Calibur 2 runs in 720p with 4:3 borders actually being rendered on the Xbox, as it couldn't keep it in frame rendering the whole screen.

I'm guessing here that because 720p can only be widescreen, the Xbox displays it letterboxed. Because SC2 renders the borders itself, it means there'll be a big border around the game.

I can only assume your LCD is getting confused with the big black gap on the left of this picture and moving what it thinks to be the edge of the screen over there. It probably can't move it as far left as is necessary, as there's a limit to how far a monitor will allow the image to be shifted.

Could you take a picture? That would really help.
