Get your facts right Lyris. JEEEEZ
EVERYONE knows that the 51s were the ones in the pods and the 41s were the ones with the straight black bit at the bottom. :P

Actually you are wrong my friend, the 41s had the strange triangley design and I'm sure I remember seeing them in the pods...

Hmm, I'm think of buying a Samsung LE26R81B, or a Bravia KDL-26T3000, i think it's the new Sony model.

Any opinions of these two? The primary use is for the XBox 360.

And anyone know the difference between the LE26R81B and LE26R86? I keep seeing the R86 in forums, but nothing about the R81, which is the one i have on the shops where i live.

From the bit of search i did, didn't find anything.

I just had a look at the french samsung site, they have R81-R84 and the only difference between those 4 sets was the colour of the TV.

The R86 is probably an identical TV, just a different colour for another region.

Boris: Just an update, but you where bang on. VGA is so much better. I can't begin to imagine what my set was doing to the HDMI signal, don't get me wrong, it was lovely but simply not as good. The 2 games I tested are reborn (Gears in particular is back to how I remember it when I had my premium) and the dashboard is super crispy.

                Again, mucho thanks.

                  Glad to hear it!
With that TV you wanna set the resolution at 1280*720 and set the video levels at expanded or intermediate, depending on your preference.

Again, Cheers, will give that a bash tonight

Boris mate - what res should I be using for a 26" Panasonic Viera.
Just got a VGA Cable again and had a mini test last night, tried it at higher ones because I thought the native res was different but finding it diffiuclt to get it right.

                        Philips 32PFL9632D LCD TV

Thinking of buying myself an Xmas present by upgrading from my Tosh 32WLT68 to a Philips 3P2FL9632D which, according to several established and reliable sources, is currently the best 32" set on the market and was wondering if any forum members who own the set or have first hand experience with it could share their impressions. Cheers.

Edit: just realised I should have posted this in the "LCD/Plasma/CRT/DLP - questions" thread and would be grateful if a mod could move it there. Thanks.

Hi guys could you help me with a question for my father-in-law he has a twin tuner harddrive freeview box and wants a 42 inch tv.

He has been told Plasmas are more forgiving with SD feeds. He wants a 1080p display but is unlikely to go HD-DVD/Blu-Ray until one 'wins' and recorders become available & cheap.

He likes the New Panasonic TH-42PZ700PED, but as he has seen my 32' Phillips LCD with Virgin+ HDMI input and not been impressed, I'm worried that a freeview signal at 1080P could look shocking when he's currently happy with his 10 Yr old 24' CRT.

Personally I feel mine is great with a HD feed, but as he is not investing/interested in HD-DVD or Sky HD, not sure the top of the range TV will gain him anything apart from maybe future proofing.

                            All comments gratefully recieved.
                            Tony

If he is not interested in HD, wtf is he wanting a 1080 screen for??

Tell him to buy a Panasonic PX37 or PX42 for under £6-700, better for SD.

If he's happy with his 10 year old 24" CRT then I recommend he keeps using that!
